Nice padded cupped Roberto Cavalli corset
First of all, happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I bet you all shopped till you dropped and many of you probably did drop, but if you haven’t yet - you’ve got a few extra shopping weeks. I don’t suggest that you spend too much money on lingerie but if you want and if you can, spend them on something really nice, something you will love till you buy something better! ![]()
Now I am here not to save you money while shopping, necessarily. I am here to share with those of you who are above the masses in your fashion tastes - share my finds, tips and resources for luxury lingerie.
This being said, here’s my today’s pick:
Roberto Cavalli Padded Cupped Corset

- Floral patterned satin corset by Roberto Cavalli
- Lace covered padded cups with velvet ribbon trim
- Lightly boned with adjustable hook and eye fastening
It’s gorgeous and it’s only $280 at Asos.com
Care tips from the lingerie companies
A couple luxury lingerie companies were kind enough to give me their tips for their lingerie care.
Julianne (aka Adamo Fashions)
With our lingerie it is best to hand wash the item in cool water. Do not dry clean, bleach, tumble dry or iron the lingerie.
When hand washing your lingerie, use a gentle soap or washing powder. Once it’s washed, rinse thoroughly, and do not soak the item. By avoiding machine washing the underwear will keep it’s shape and colour longer. Let the underwear dry flat away from direct sunlight.
Ravage
In order to keep your bra awesome, please hand wash it in cold water or use the delicate program of your washing machine (still with cold or max 30c° water). Please dry flat it and above all don’t use the drying cabinet.
Guia La Bruna
All of our garments are mostly made in silk, so you should dry clean it. Or hand wash very carefully, but dry clean would be the best.
Frankly Darling
It is always best to hand wash in lukewarm water to keep the colour and the same with the briefs.
A.F. Vandervorst
We recommend hand wash in luke water. You can use the spinning cycle of the wool program of your washing machine, max 800, but be sure to put the bra in a nylon bag. No tumble dry, just hang on a peg and let it dry.
Fleur T
We advise that the silk garments should be hand washed in cool water.
Courtworth
Hand wash in luke warm water with mild, liquid handwash suitable for silks. Dry flat on a towel. Do not iron.
Bas Bleu
All of the lingerie can be washed at 40 degrees on a delicate cycle without any problems. I would avoid tumble drying it to improve longevity.
So, no washing machines unless yours is a front load machine and has a special cycle, and under no circumstances tumble dry of your luxury lingerie items. Hand wash or dry clean is your best choice if you want your lingerie to last and keep in great shape.

A slightly overpriced Nina Ricci collection
The new Nina Ricci collection that’s now sold at Nancy Meyer is beautiful and elegant, but a little bit overpriced.
This Cristal Balconnet bra is $223:

That’s a lot of money for a bra that looks so… good but not great.
A matching Cristal Bikini is $170:

Well, bikinis look more like they are worth the price.
And here’s a pair of matching Soleil boyshort and thong - very nice, but again, a price of $200 and $198 respectively is a little too steep for the look.

Expect more pop-ups from Agent Provocateur
Agent Provocateur selects Mediaplex to arouse its online activity
Release Date: 16 November 2007
Luxury designer lingerie brand, Agent Provocateur has selected leading adserving management and tracking company, Mediaplex (part of ValueClick Europe) to manage its entire cross-channel online marketing activity.Mediaplex is working with Agent Provocateur’s digital marketing agency Blowfish Digital, to track, manage and evaluate Agent Provocateur’s natural search, paid search and affiliate marketing activities in the UK. So if you are in U.K. and I am almost sure anywhere else, expect to see more annoying pop-ups but this time sponsored by Agent Provocateur. They’ve had aggressive marketing before, which is fine - good for them, I just hope they won’t become an Chili’s - I stopped going to Chili’s once I started seeing their pop-ups on the internet.

Kylie Minogue video - old but so hot
This vid is about a year old, but does it really matter.
It’s Kylie Minogue in Agent Provocateur ad. I love her aussie accent. I don’t fully agree with the claim - yes Agent Provocateur is quite erotic, no doubt about that, maybe it’s in the top 10 most erotic lingerie brands… but the claim is a little bigger then the brand. Good marketing, though, AP seem to hire top models/celebs to promote their lingerie. Unlike Elle Macpherson late viral marketing campaign with a series or “amature” videos… those were pretty lame.
Client: Agent Provocateur
Claim: “Agent Provocateur is the most erotic lingerie in the world… as proven by you”

4 picks from Leigh Bantivoglio
I haven’t mentioned Leigh Bantivoglio in my previous posts yet, but Leigh is an outstanding lingerie designer, selling her collections in boutiques and upscale department stores, such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Barneys, Neiman Marcus (U.S.) as well as couple stores around the world. Leigh seems to specialize in camisoles, chemises, slips, night gowns and such, not so much in bras, even though she has a couple bras as well. You can check out the entire Fall collection at her website.
IMO Leigh Bantivoglio along with Vagin Pouvoir are the only two American luxury lingerie brands that compete with European luxury brands.
Meanwhile, here are 4 picks from the Leigh Bantivoglio, something that I particularly like.

Left: Ava Papillon Camisole Daywear - $198 at Barenecessities (now on sale for $99)
Right: Cassandra Kimono Robe Loungewear - $238

Left: Delphine Cocktail Camisole Daywear - $235
Right: Sonia Stretch Lace Empire Camisole Daywear - $219 at Tanga
