There is this famous lingerie brand whose name we shall no mention here (it begins with V) that has been a complete champion in making the kinds of bras that can fit any outfit. Absolutely any outfit. Strapless dresses, backless sweaters, plunge tops – you name it! All have bras with the promise of being perfectly concealed from sight. Functionality is all!

Naturally, halter dresses have their lingerie partners.

But there is something invigorating about counter-functionality. I thought of that when I came across some gorgeous yet completely unfunctional halter bras. How can I describe them to you?

You know how sometimes you find this out-of-this-world pair of shoes, and you become aware that you will have to buy a dress for them? The halter bras I’ve found are like that. They are to be complemented, not to complement. You won’t buy one to fit some gorgeous Alice+Olivia dress. Even if it did occur to you to wear something on top of it, you would want to buy a dress to fit the bra.
